The Town of Burke is soliciting established Landscaping and Property Management Companies for the Lawn Mowing and Trimming of two Town properties for the 2026 season.

· The Clerk’s Office/Community Building– 212 School Street, West Burke

· East Burke Darling Park – Route 114, East Burke

(The entire park area, which includes the ball field and playground area.)

Please include a separate bid for fertilizing the Town Clerk’s Office area.

The successful bidder shall have their own equipment and maintain the insurances required by the State of Vermont for the scope of work that is agreed to and shall be in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws governing labor and safety while performing the contracted work. References may be required upon request. Interested contractors should submit a bid proposal by Friday, April 17, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., to the Town of Burke, Jim Sullivan via email Townadmin@BurkeVermont.org or 12 School Street, West Burke Vermont 05871.

CEMETERY MAINTENACE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

The Town of Burke and its residents take great care and pride in the daily appearance of the cemeteries. Therefore, the Town is soliciting established Landscaping and Property Management Companies for the Seasonal Maintenance of the Town’s five cemeteries for 2026.

· Burke Meeting House Cemetery – Burke Hollow Road, West Burke

· Hillside Cemetery – Burke Hollow Road, West Burke

· Howland Cemetery – Burke Hollow Road, West Burke

· Burke Green Cemetery – Burke Green Road, East Burke

· Woodmont Cemetery – US Route 114, East Burke

Work includes spring leaf and debris cleanup/removal, mowing, weed-cutting/trimming along the various walls, fences, and vaults. Trimming around markers – including the in-ground markers. Pruning of ornamental shrubs; and fall leaf and debris cleanup/removal. General maintenance to keep the properties in good order. Grub treatments and fertilizer, as needed. The Hillside Cemetery has a gate that needs to be locked each evening and opened each morning. There must be clear communication with the Town Sexton for scheduling purposes. Previous experience maintaining cemeteries is preferable. References may be required upon request. Highway Crew Wanted

Town of Burke, Full-Time Road Crew Position Seeking full-time applicants for a position on the Town of Burke Highway Department Road Crew. CDL Class B w/Tanker endorsement required with medical card. Job includes physical labor, lifting, plowing, grading and requires some overtime. Highway winter maintenance and equipment operation experience preferred (Grader, Excavator, 10 Wheeler Plow Truck w/wing). Competitive Salary and Benefit package. The public may call (802) 467-3717 to schedule an appointment for services, including accessing the land records of the Town, during regular business hours Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm. Town officials and employees aim to accommodate requests for services as quickly and efficiently as possible and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Town officials have observed delay and disruption to Town employees' ability to perform their duties in a timely manner because of unscheduled visits from members of the public who are requesting time, attention, and services. This modification in service delivery will stay in place until further notice.

The Burke Town Clerk's Office will be closed on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, Independence Day, July 4, 2025, Labor Day Monday, September 1, 2025, Thanksgiving November 27 & 28, 2025, Christmas Eve, Wednesday December 24, 2025 closing at 12:00P.M. Christmas, Thursday, December 25, & 26, 2025, and will reopen December 29, 2025 at 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

The Burke Town Clerk's Office will be closed on New Years Day, Thursday January 1, 2025 and will reopen January 2, 2025 at 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Don’t forget to register your dogs!!

In Vermont, all dogs over six months old must be licensed

annually by April 1.

Vaccination Requirements: Before obtaining a license, owners must provide a certificate from a licensed veterinarian showing that the dog has received a current rabies vaccination. All dogs over three months of age must be vaccinated against
rabies.

Animal License Fees Up to April 1

Dogs who are spayed or neutered $17.00

Dogs who are not spayed or neutered $22.00

Animal License Fees after April 1

Dogs who are spayed or neutered $19.00

Dogs who are not spayed or neutered $26.00

You can license your dogs by mail, in person or by using the drop box by the front door. Please include a copy of your most
recent rabies certificate.
