CEMETERY MAINTENACE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

The Town of Burke and its residents take great care and pride in the daily appearance of the cemeteries. Therefore, the Town is soliciting established Landscaping and Property Management Companies for the Seasonal Maintenance of the Town’s five cemeteries for 2026.

· Burke Meeting House Cemetery – Burke Hollow Road, West Burke

· Hillside Cemetery – Burke Hollow Road, West Burke

· Howland Cemetery – Burke Hollow Road, West Burke

· Burke Green Cemetery – Burke Green Road, East Burke

· Woodmont Cemetery – US Route 114, East Burke

Work includes spring leaf and debris cleanup/removal, mowing, weed-cutting/trimming along the various walls, fences, and vaults. Trimming around markers – including the in-ground markers. Pruning of ornamental shrubs; and fall leaf and debris cleanup/removal. General maintenance to keep the properties in good order. Grub treatments and fertilizer, as needed. The Hillside Cemetery has a gate that needs to be locked each evening and opened each morning. There must be clear communication with the Town Sexton for scheduling purposes. The successful bidder shall have their own equipment and maintain the insurances required by the State of Vermont for the scope of work that is agreed to and shall be in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws governing labor and safety while performing the contracted work. Previous experience maintaining cemeteries is preferable. References may be required upon request. Burke accepts recycling at 212 School Street on Wednesday, Thursday from 3:00 to 6:00pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. NEK Rubbish is also available to take your trash the same hours as recycling for a charge.
